International Architecture Festival «Eco-Shore» Moskow - 2014
The Vth International Festival "Eco-Shore", dedicated to the architectural development of the coastal areas will take place in Moscow from May 28th to June 1st of 2014. In modern conditions of the economic, urban and environmental challenges, the Festival is aimed to comprehensive development of innovative ideas for organization and reclamation of coastal spaces.
The Union of Moscow Architects is the Festival’s Founder and organizer. The Festival will be held with support of the Moscow Government and Committee on Architecture and Urban Planning of the City of Moscow. The Open joint stock company (OAO) "City" is a Festival Co- organizer.
The "Eco-Shore 2014" Festival’s motto is “The Moskva river banks – a gold reserve for the City development." The problems of leisure and habitation in the vicinity of the river bank lines are the most acute and topical, because the bank areas are the major and irreplaceable value of the City, its residents, tourists and businesspeople. The Festival objective is to attract public and professional attention to the prospects of urban and architectural development of the river bank areas in Moscow, as well as to demonstrate the potential of Russian architects in the matters of development and improvement of riverside spaces and creating a comfortable living environment for people.
The programme of this year's Festival includes: thematic exhibitions of participating countries demonstrating the best achievements of Russian and foreign architects in the field of environmental, architectural and town-planning development of coastal spaces, a scientific conference on the subject: "Urban analysis of the Moskva river bank areas reconstruction" or "Moscow riverside areas: problems and prospects"; discussions, lectures, presentations and master classes with participation of leading architects; excursions to the " Moskva-City" business center and sightseeing tours over new construction in Moscow.
In frames of the Festival an open architectural and urban planning competition on "The improvement and development of the territory along the Taras Shevchenko Embankment" will be held. The task of the competitors is to suggest an original conceptual solution demonstrating a contemporary and innovative approach to the complex development of the river bank territories with elements of tourist infrastructure. Russian and foreign architects and teams are invited to take part in the Competition.
Over the past years, the "Eco- Shore" Festival had gained the status of a major international project, which was attended by architects from more than 15 countries near and far abroad.
The Festival initiators hope for continuing the dialogue of professionals and society on the theme "Architecture and Water" and invite architects from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Georgia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Armenia to participate in the Festival and Competition.
The Festival objectives, the themes of scientific conference and Competition are very important for the development of not only Moscow but also of the whole Moscow agglomeration. The Festival results will be passed to interested organizations for investigation in order to use them in the future for the development of regional plans and programmes meant for the development and improvement of coastal areas.
